What Exactly Is Your Brain?

Your brain is an organ, only around 2-3 pounds, located inside your skull behind the eyes and above the neck. It is a specialized organ that sends messages across cells called neurons.

Your brain is an organ, only around 2-3 pounds, located inside your skull behind the eyes and above the neck. It is a specialized organ that sends messages across cells called neurons. Neurons talk to each other by using chemical and electrical signals.

The brain controls your thoughts, emotions, and memory. The brain also controls daily functions such as regulating body temperature, movement, and coordinating our 5 senses (hearing, sight, smell, taste, and touch/pain).

Just like your heart, liver, and stomach, your brain works really hard for you every day! This is why it is so important to take care of it!

Things that you do every day —what you eat, how much you exercise, and how you deal with stress — can impact how your brain functions.
